Mahinda Rajapakse International Cricket Ground was established in 2009 and was built for ICC Cricket World Cup Tournament 2011. Also known as “Sooriyawewa International Cricket Stadium”. It provides ample space for 35,000 people at once. It is the second largest cricket stadium in Sri Lanka and is the third floodlit International Cricket Stadium.
The stadium hosted two ODI matches of ICC Cricket World Cup Tournament 2011 and also hosted three T20 matches of ICC World T20 2012. Few of the Bilateral Series One-dayers and T20 matches were during the recent years.
From the grandstand of this International Cricket Stadium, you will get a view of the breathtaking panorama of mountains, lakes and jungle extending deep into the horizon.
